 Notes
The Garifuna Collective was co-founded and led by the late Andy Palacio
(19602008), a musician dedicated to preserving the unique Garifuna
language and culture. Today this group of accomplished, multi-generational
Garifuna artists continues to tour and perform in Palacios memory and with
his commitment to keeping Garifuna tradition and language alive against
     their threatened extinction
Andy Palacio & The Garifuna Collectives 2007 album "Watina" was widely
praised as a masterpiece and introduced the world to the soulful melodies
and powerful rhythms of the Garifuna people of Central America. Palacio
passed away suddenly a year after the album was released, leaving his
community wondering who would carry the torch of cultural revival and
     musical innovation.
On "Ayo" ('Goodbye' in the Garifuna language) The Garifuna Collective and
"Watina" producer Ivan Duran have created a magical album whose songs of
heartbreak, hope and joy will take your breath away.
