Author: Maxine Ventham, Shelagh Milligan

Completed before his death and with contributions from his many friends, this behind-the-scenes look at Spike Milligan presents a living biography of the famed comedian. It is a worthy tribute filled with memories and impressions of the genius who helped people, inspired them, made them laugh, or was simply their pal. Written with Spike’s blessing, he lent more than 70 personal photographs which are included. Many aspects of Spike’s character are covered by those who knew him best, including his wife Shelagh. His war experiences are recalled by his comrades, including a rare glimpse into Spike’s battle fatigue. Professor Anthony Clare takes a revealing look into the Milligan psychology, while Michael Parkinson, Richard Lester, Michael Palin, and Joanna Lumley share their thoughts, as do some fans and charities Spike benefited along the way.
