 Gregory "Funk Daddy" Buren was born (in 1969) and raised in West Seattle,    
 Washington. He started rapping and breakdancing in high school with his      
 main influence being Sir Mix-A-Lot. When he was 17 years old, he had saved   
 up enough money from his after-school job to buy his own drum machine.       
 Through a friend, he managed to buy Sir Mix-A-Lot's old keyboard and drum    
 machine and worked hard to try to create the same sounds as Mix-A-Lot had    
 made with the equipment, but his repeated attempts were unsuccessful.        
 He did manage to create his own sound and just after high school he was      
 hired to DJ for Kid Sensation, who opened and collaborated with Mix-A-Lot.   
 Funk Daddy eventually deejayed for both artists and wound up scratching on   
 Sir Mix-A-Lot's second album, "Seminar".                                     
 In 1987, after stints with groups like M.I.C. (Masters In Control) and       
 Crooked Path (which was him, Dee-Lyrious and Skee/J-Skee), Funk Daddy        
 started his own group called Ready And Willin' and began calling himself DJ  
 Ready. He also enetered several DJing competitions, winning The Battle For   
 Seattle Supremacy in 1989 and the CITR DJ&MC Battle in Vancouver, British    
 Columbia, Canada in 1990. When he returned to CITR in 1991, he entered the   
 MC competition and won, proving his MCing skills matched his DJing.          
 Having achieved success in both Djing and MCing, he next tried his hand at   
 producing. After the break-up of Ready And Willin', he changed his name to   
 Funk Daddy and entered the American Ethnic Studies program at the            
 University of Washington in 1993. He got a break when a friend took a tape   
 of his beats to the Gavin Convention in San Francisco. The tape made its     
 way into E-40's hands who hired him to produce 3 tracks for "In A Major      
 Way".                                                                        
 This inspired Funk Daddy to release this "Funk U Right On Up" album, his     
 debut. He followed it up with "Funk Daddy Is The Source" in 1995 and in      
 1996 he was hired by Sir Mix-A-Lot to produce on "Return Of The              
 Bumpasaurus". Later he worked again with E-40 on "The Element Of Surprise".  
 He continued to deejay at local clubs, even winning the 1999 Best Club and   
 Mix Tape DJ award at the Northwest Music Awards while also hosting a weekly  
 radio show on Seattle's X104 with local singer Mr. Rossi. Even though his    
 last solo album was 2001's "I Want All That", he continued to produce and    
 distributed mixtapes. He was nominated in 2005 for the Seattle Mayor's       
 Award for Excellence in Hip Hop, losing out to Sir Mix-A-Lot.
