The Morse code is steeped in tradition, not only in Amateur Radio but in other services as well. The sight of a radio operator sending a message in code generates a certain intrigue that makes the mind wander to thoughts of ships in distress, signals-in-the-night and faint transmissions from distant lands. Although some of the thoughts it conjures are of times gone by, the code is useful today as it was the day of it’s invention, more so in many ways. Portions of our high-tech, modern-day military make extensive use of the code. Whether you are a newcomer to Amateur Radio or you have been licensed for 50 years, you owe it to yourself to become proficient in the most valuable means of communication.
